Lash Lift FAQ

What is a lash lift?

A Lash Lift is a one-hour treatment that gently and permanently lifts your natural lashes from the root, creating the look of longer, fuller, and perfectly curled lashes—without extensions.

The lift instantly opens and brightens your eyes, leaving you looking refreshed, more awake, and even younger.

At Lash Lift Queen, we’re renowned for delivering impressive results on every lash type and length.
Even clients with the most resistant or previously unsuccessful lash lifts are able to achieve beautifully lifted, long-lasting results here.

What’s the difference between a regular lash lift & a keratin lash lift at Lash Lift Queen?

A regular lash lift simply curls your lashes into place.
At Lash Lift Queen, we go far beyond that.

Our Keratin Lash Lift is primarily infused with keratin - the protein naturally found in your lashes - along with collagen, additional proteins, amino acids, botanical antioxidants, and peptides to actively nourish, strengthen, and protect during the treatment. Paired with our multi-phase hydration technique, this ensures your lashes stay lifted for their entire growth cycle (around 3 months), rather than dropping prematurely.

Over the past decade, Lash Lift Queen has developed a unique system and method tailored to each client, focusing on hydrating and caring for the lashes at every stage. This includes our Lash Volumising Mask, which smooths and plumps each lash from within, instantly increasing lash volume by up to 30% for a fuller, more dramatic finish.

But here’s the truth not everyone will mention: lash lifts are low maintenance, not no maintenance.
Regardless of how nourishing the treatment itself is, you cannot achieve the intended results or optimal longevity without daily aftercare.

Just like you would still use a daily moisturiser after a facial or conditioner after colouring your hair, your lashes need daily hydration post-lift.
Aftercare isn’t a “nice-to-have” - it’s an essential step in fully enjoying the treatment you’ve invested in.
At Lash Lift Queen, we emphasise this because lash lift results are 60% treatment, 40% aftercare.

And we’ve seen it firsthand: the dramatic difference in both lash health and lash lift longevity when clients are consistent with aftercare.
With over a decade of tried and true experience, we stand firmly on the fact - and the science - that proper aftercare is essential for long lasting, optimal results.

The outcome? Stronger, healthier, plumper lashes with a defined lift that lasts longer and looks more dramatic than a standard lash lift.

Is aftercare really that important?

A lash lift is not designed to be a “set and forget” treatment.
While it’s designed to be low maintenance, it’s not no maintenance.

At Lash Lift Queen, we’ve developed a unique lash lift experience that focuses on hydration and lash health - but no matter how advanced the treatment is, the results simply cannot last the way they are suppose to without proper daily care once you leave your appointment.

Think of it like skincare or haircare:

  • You still use a moisturiser after a facial. You wouldn’t expect to have glass-skin from one facial alone, without following it up with a consistent at-home routine.

  • You still apply conditioner after colouring your hair. Hair colouring is a chemical process, and without conditioner your hair feels dry - not the intended outcome!

  • Your lashes undergo a chemical treatment too during a lift. Just like skin and hair, they need daily hydration to stay healthy, glossy, strong, beautifully lifted and long lasting. Consistent aftercare protects and maximises your results, it also ensures a smoother, healthier grow-out phase, so your lashes stay looking their best right through the natural lash cycle.

That’s why we say:

Lash lift results are 60% treatment, 40% aftercare.

Your aftercare routine - especially using a lash lift specific serum - is what allows you to fully enjoy the treatment you’ve invested in.
It keeps your lashes nourished, flexible, and lifted for the full growth cycle (around 3 months).

What is Lash Botox & Lash Filler?

What commonly known as “Lash Botox” isn’t the lash lift itself - it’s actually a lash filler or deep-conditioning treatment mask enriched with keratin, peptides, vitamins, and nourishing oils.

This treatment can be performed on its own or as the final step of a lash lift. The mask penetrates deep into the lash structure to:

  • Repair damage from previous treatments or lash extensions

  • Thicken and plump each lash strand for visibly fuller results

  • Hydrate and protect against brittleness or breakage

At Lash Lift Queen, we call this treatment the Lash Volumising Mask because it truly works like a rejuvenating mask for your natural lashes. (Note: “Botox” is a trademark owned by Allergan, the company behind Botox® injectables. While the treatment is commonly referred to as “lash botox”, we avoid using the term to remain accurate and trademark-compliant.)

When paired with a lift, this treatment leaves your lashes glossier, healthier, up to 30% thicker, with long-lasting curl retention.

Are there different styles of lash lift or do you do the same for each person?

Every lash lift at Lash Lift Queen is uniquely customised to suit your individual style, preferences, and natural lashes.

Before starting, we carefully assess your lash length, growth pattern, and eye shape, while also asking about the look you’d like to achieve - whether that’s a soft natural curl, a lifted wide-eye effect, or a dramatic, high-impact curl.

We offer a range of specialised lash lift styles, techniques and formulas to ensure that no matter your lash type or eye shape, you’ll leave with results tailored perfectly to you.

How long does the treatment take?

A Lash Lift treatment takes around 60–90 minutes from start to finish.

It’s the perfect amount of time to switch off, relax, and even enjoy a little nap - then wake up looking and feeling refreshed with beautifully lifted lashes.

How long does the lash lift last?

At Lash Lift Queen, your lash lift will typically last 2–3 months, or until your lashes naturally grow out.
Most of our clients enjoy 3 months of beautifully lifted lashes, and some even longer.

What makes our treatment unique is that the lift doesn’t weaken or “drop” over time. Instead, it simply grows out with your natural lash cycle.
Since lashes regenerate every 2–3 months (just like the hair on your head), your lashes will stay lifted until your new lashes grow through.

Pairing your lash lift treatment with a consistent aftercare routine and using a lash lift aftercare specific serum on your lashes daily post-treatment, will help keep lashes healthier, stronger, glossier, and lifted for longer.

Lash lifts are LOW maintenace, not no maintenance!

Can I wear mascara with a lash lift?

Absolutely!
You can wear mascara with a lash lift, but there are a few important guidelines:

  • Wait 24–48 hours after your treatment before applying any mascara.

  • Avoid waterproof formulas, as they dehydrate lashes and require harsh rubbing or oil-based removers that can weaken your lift.

  • Always apply lash lift aftercare serum first - it creates a protective barrier so mascara doesn’t dry your lashes out, keeping them healthy and flexible.

  • Remove mascara gently: the best way is in the shower with warm running water, a gentle cleanser, and a soft face cloth. Lightly stroke the mascara off your lashes - never rub or tug, as this can disrupt your lash lift results.

With the right care, mascara and your lash lift can work beautifully together.

I have short lashes, will a lash lift work for me?

Yes!
Short lashes can absolutely be lifted - and the results are often surprisingly dramatic.

At Lash Lift Queen, we specialise in tailoring the treatment to suit every lash length and eye shape.
During your consultation, we will walk you through the process, discuss style options, and select the technique that will give your lashes the most length, curl, and definition possible.

Even with shorter lashes, you’ll leave with a noticeably lifted, brighter, and more open-eyed look.

I have fine lashes, will a lash lift work for me?

Yes, of course!
Fine lashes can be beautifully lifted, they just require a little extra care and precision during the treatment because of their delicate nature.

At Lash Lift Queen, we use gentle, hydration-focused formulas and customised techniques to ensure your fine lashes are lifted safely while also being nourished and strengthened.
The result is a defined curl that enhances your natural lashes without causing damage.

I have stubborn lashes, will the lash lift work?

Yes, absolutely!
At Lash Lift Queen, we specialise in achieving impressive results on every lash type, including the most resistant or previously “unliftable” lashes.

With over a decade of experience and advanced techniques, we know how to adjust the process to suit your natural lash texture, ensuring even the most stubborn lashes are beautifully lifted, defined, and long-lasting.

How often can I get a lash lift?

It is recommended to wait until 90% of your existing lash lift has grown out before booking your next lift.
This can take between 2-3 months depending on the individual and the speed of their lash cycle.
This is to maintain the health & integrity of your lashes and the final results which is Lash Lift Queen's main priority.
If you're unsure whether you're ready for another lash lift, feel free to send a photo of your lashes and we can guide you!

Who isn’t suitable for lash lifts?

A lash lift may not be suitable if you:

  • Have had recent eye surgery

  • Are currently experiencing an eye infection

  • Have trichotillomania (compulsive lash pulling)

  • Are unable to comfortably keep your eyes closed for 1 hour

  • Are unable to lie flat for 1 hour

  • Have known allergies or sensitivities to the products used

If you’re unsure whether a lash lift is right for you, please reach out—we’re always happy to answer questions and guide you safely.

Can I get a lash lift if I have lash extensions on?

No, lash lifts cannot be performed while you have lash extensions applied.
The solutions used in a lift are designed to work directly on your natural lashes, and applying them over extensions could damage both the extensions and your natural lashes.

If you’d like a lash lift, your extensions will need to be professionally removed first. Once your natural lashes are free and healthy, we can then perform the treatment and give you a beautiful, long-lasting curl.

Can I get a lash lift if I am pregnant?

Yes, we are able to perform lash lifts if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
However, we always recommend checking with your doctor or healthcare provider before booking, to ensure the treatment is completely safe for you and your little one.

Your comfort is our priority.
If you are in the later stages of pregnancy, we can make adjustments to help you lie or sit more comfortably during the treatment.
We also offer a Sydney-wide mobile lash lift service, which may be a preferred option if travelling to our studio isn’t ideal.

I’ve had a lash lift done before and it didn’t turn out very good - will my experience with Lash Lift Queen be different?

Absolutely.
Many of our clients come to us after experiencing disappointing results elsewhere. Before your treatment, we’ll take the time to discuss your concerns, assess your natural lashes, and determine where the previous salon may have gone wrong - so we can ensure you get the results you’re looking for this time.

Poor lash lift experiences are usually the result of incorrect techniques or low-quality products.
Lash Lift Queen is the first lash lift exclusive specialist in Australia, with over 10 years of experience dedicated solely to lash lifts.
With our advanced methods and premium formulations, you can trust that your lashes are in expert hands.

Can I get a lash lift without a tint?

Absolutely!
The lash tint is complimentary and completely optional with every treatment.
If you prefer to skip it, we’ll simply perform the lift on its own.

At Lash Lift Queen, we tailor every service to your preferences to ensure you have the best possible experience and results.

Does it hurt?

Not at all - a lash lift should never be painful.
If you’ve ever experienced discomfort during a lash lift, it was likely due to incorrect technique or lack of precision by the artist.

At Lash Lift Queen, your comfort is our priority.
In fact, most of our clients find the treatment so relaxing that they fall asleep while we work.
Our process is designed to ensure zero irritation and a soothing experience from start to finish.

What is the aftercare for a lash lift?

24 Hours Post Treatment:

  • Be gentle with your lashes & avoid rubbing or touching them.
  • Avoid water, heat & steam - this includes steamy showers, saunas, swimming, solariums, blow drying your hair, spray tanning, working out & facials.
  • Do not apply mascara, oils or other products to your lashes.
  • Avoid sleeping in a position that puts pressure on your lashes.

Daily Maintenace:

  • Be gentle with your lashes and avoid excessively rubbing them - this includes when removing mascara.
  • To remove mascara we recommend using a face cloth and warm water to loosen & gently remove.
  • Avoid using makeup wipes.
  • Mascara can be used, however the Keratin Aftercare Serum (provided in your aftercare kit) MUST be applied prior to mascara.
  • Avoid waterproof mascara as is extremely dehydrating on your lashes & difficult to remove.
  • Be careful when using false lashes. False lashes may be used when you have a lash lift, but extra care must be taken to ensure the glue is not applied to the lashes as this will negatively affect your results. It can be difficult to wear false lashes so it is best to avoid if possible.
  • Do not use oils or rich facial products on your lashes as it may weaken your lash lift over time.
  • Brush your lashes daily using the lash brushes provided in your Aftercare Kit.
  • Apply Keratin Aftercare Serum daily to maintain optimal results & healthy lashes. The serum hydrates & nourishes your lashes which is the key to beautiful & lasting results, and also promotes thicker, fuller, stronger, longer lashes.
  • If you have any questions we encourage you to contact us - we are always here to help.

At your appointment you will be given an Aftercare Kit to maintain your lash lift results. This includes a detailed Aftercare Guide, Keratin Aftercare Serum and Lash Brushes.

Do I need to do anything to maintain the results?

It is essential to use a lash lift specific aftercare serum daily once you've had a lash lift treatment, to maintain optimal results.

Think of a lash lift like a facial; much like maintaining the glow from a facial requires a consistent skincare routine at home, the same principle applies to lash lifts.
Your lashes do require daily topical hydration to look and feel their best.
Your post-treatment care will heavily influence your long-term results and overall lash lift experience.

Lash Lift Queen stocks lash lift specific aftercare serums that are formulated to deliver lashes the correct nutrients required to penetrate the inner lash and nourish the lashes from the inside out.

Can I use castor oil as an aftercare serum?

Absolutely not!
Using nothing on your lashes after a lash lift is going to be better for them than using castor oil!
Sounds contradicting right!?

After being chemically treated (aka. after a lash lift - or brow lamination, they involve the same process) castor oil molecules are too large to penetrate the lash shaft (inner lash) effectively.
Instead of nourishing your lashes from within, the oil sits on the surface of the lash, creating a barrier that prevents essential moisture from entering.
Although castor oil initially feels moisturising, it actually traps moisture out rather than sealing it in.
This false sense of hydration can lead to progressive dehydration, causing your lashes to feel drier, more fragile and negatively impact your lash health.

To maintain healthy, hydrated lashes and extend the life of your lash lift, it’s crucial to use an aftercare serum designed specifically for chemically treated lashes.
These products contain smaller molecules that can penetrate deeply, delivering moisture and nourishment without compromising the effects of the lift.

By avoiding castor oil and choosing the suitable aftercare formulas, you’ll protect your lash health and enhance the longevity of your lash lift.
